Startforth Park, Barnard Castle

DPDS are commissioned by the Ministry of Justice to prepare an outline planning application for the development of 84 dwellings on land adjacent to a Young Offenders Institute on the edge of Barnard Castle, County Durham.  DPDS previously promoted the site through the Local Plan where the Inspector considered the site as appropriate for residential development and recommended its allocation.

DPDS have coordinated the preparation of a number of technical assessments and design documents in support of the planning application, including Arboriculture, Transport, Ecology, Flood Risk, Design and Access Statement and Masterplan.

DPDS Involvement

• Promoting the site through the submission of representations to the evolving Local Development Framework and ongoing discussions with local planning officers
• Lead consultant co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary team preparing technical reports in support of the outline planning application
• Providing advice on public and stakeholder consultation, preparing illustrative material for use in consultation events and attending those events on behalf of Ministry of Justice
• Attending meetings with client, relevant statutory bodies, local planning authorities and project team
