Neil Arbon BA(Hons), Dip TP, MRTPIDirector
Neil has some 12 years experience in planning and development in the East Midlands and leads the Derby office team. Neil has extensive experience in delivering and managing a variety of planning applications from complex mixed use urban extensions to small scale applications such as change of use. He has wide-ranging  knowledge of the planning system as well as the planning appeals process.

He has acted for a wide range of clients including local authorities, government departments and plc companies as well as private landowners.  Neil is a qualified Chartered Town Planner.

Hannah Clarke BSc (Hons)

Hannah recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Geography (BSc). As part of her undergraduate degree, Hannah completed a year-long work placement as a Student Planner with Northumberland County Council.

Hannah will be assisting the planning team in Derby gaining experience across a diverse and wide range of projects.

Mike has worked on a wide range of projects in the mixed-use, residential, health and educational sectors and has acted for a wide range of clients including local authorities, developers, education establishments and health authorities over many years for DPDS.

Mike is currently working on a number of projects for DPDS in a consultancy position.

Susan Cupples

Susan joined the practice in 2005 in the role of Business Development Manager and is responsible for the development of new business opportunities and management of corporate marketing and client retention activities that support the professional planning, architecture and project management services offered by the group.

Susan is also responsible for the practice’s tendering activity.

Eileen Daye
Eileen DayeAccounts and Credit Manager
Eileen joined DPDS in June 2012. Eileen’s has day-to-day responsibility for the accounts function including managing the purchase ledger function, cheque and BACS payments, managing the sales ledger, setting up new accounts, producing monthly invoicing for clients, liaising between clients and directors to resolve any queries, generating and maintaining budget/expenditure spreadsheets for projects, and assisting staff with any queries relating to budgets/invoicing.

Eileen is also responsible for the company’s VAT returns, bank reconciliations, journals, monthly management accounts, staff performance analysis, budgets, year end and client bank account.

Les Durrant DipTP, MRTPI, FRICS, MInstD
Les Durrant DipTP, MRTPI, FRICS, MInstDGroup Managing Director
Les has over 40 years experience in planning, development and related environmental activities. He has extensive knowledge of planning and designing for retail, leisure, residential, commercial, educational and healthcare projects, particularly related to large scale urban extensions and town centre developments. His experience covers strategic project management, especially in the area of environmental impact assessment and leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects.  He has acted for a wide range of clients including local authorities, government departments and plc companies as well as private landowners.

Les is qualified as both a Chartered Surveyor and a Chartered Town Planner and is also a member of the Institute of Directors.

Christian Fisk BSc(Hons)

Christian first joined DPDS as a student planner over the summer of 2013 where he worked closely with the design and planning team, assisting on projects as part of his ‘year in industry’ for a degree in planning. He graduated the School of City and Regional Planning, Cardiff University in 2014 with a BSc Hons accredited degree. He also holds a Diploma of the Licentiateship Award in Planning from City and Guilds. As well as progressing towards full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute status, he will start working towards a Masters in Town Planning in 2016.

Christian has completed several work placements both publicly and privately, including working for Wiltshire Council, transport and planning consultancies and a retail developer.

Patrick Griffiths BSc(Hons), Dip LA, CMLI
Patrick Griffiths BSc(Hons), Dip LA, CMLIConsultant Landscape Architect
Patrick is a well-experienced Chartered Landscape Architect who has been a professional member of the Landscape Institute since 1982 and has acted as a consultant within the DPDS group since the company’s formation. He has provided site appraisals, landscape strategies and detailed designs for projects covering a wide range of types and of varying scale, including input to masterplan layouts and green infrastructure.

Patrick contributed landscape and visual assessment work to a number of Environmental Statements including those prepared by DPDS for both the new regional hospital and the southern sector expansion at Swindon.

Sue Harding
Sue HardingReceptionist/Secretary
Sue joined DPDS in 2004 as receptionist and is the first point of contact to visitors coming to the office and answering incoming calls to the switchboard, taking and passing on messages if required and maintaining the diary for meeting rooms.

With many previous years experience in a variety of administration roles within different business sectors, she is an integral member of the Admin Team, and provides administration and secretarial support to all members of staff including typing letters, reports and minutes; updating the project database; negotiating with stationery suppliers, ordering and maintaining stock levels.

Lyndsay Kane
Lyndsay KanePA to Chairman & Managing Director
Lyndsay joined DPDS in December 2001 as Secretary to the Planning Team.  Her role includes various secretarial and administrative duties to support the team including typing, filing, updating Planning Encyclopedias, collation of documents, assistance with collating planning applications and monitoring planning applications and Council websites. She has recently been promoted to the position of Personal Assistant to Les Durrant.

She is also on hand to provide support to other departments should they need it and provides cover to reception as and when required.

Mark Mac Donnell MA, MRICS, ARB

Mark has worked in London, Bristol and Bath before joining DPDS as a Principal Architect at the beginning 2014. He has experience in residential projects, listed buildings, environmental design and landscape architecture.  He believes that good design gives long lasting value for the client, the occupier and the environment.

Mark has a degree in Mathematics, an MA in Property Law and Finance as well as being qualified as an Architect from the University of Bath.  Mark is also a Chartered Surveyor and lives in Bath.

Duncan McCallum BA(Hons), MPhil, MRTPI

Duncan has extensive experience in retail planning and has assisted many Local Authorities over his considerable time with DPDS.  He is responsible for launching ReAct a quick and cost effective service covering applications for new retail development including proposals for food or non-food stores, town centre redevelopments, extensions to existing premises, and applications to vary conditions relating to existing permissions.

Duncan is currently working with a number of Local Authorities for DPDS in a consultancy position.

Stuart is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) with a Masters degree in Environmental Planning and a B.Eng (Hons) in Civil Engineering with Environmental Management.

Stuart is an experienced strategic planner, development enabler and project manager with over 18 years’ experience working in both the UK and Australia. He has a broad knowledge of the UK planning system, having managed local authority planning policy teams in the UK, and has led the development of strategies to deliver large scale development and infrastructure projects in Australia.

Gillian Pakeman

Gillian has recently joined the team at DPDS to provide technical and design support to the professional members of the company.

She has worked for Civil Engineering, Planning and Environmental Consultants as a CAD Technician and Illustrator, working across the board from detailed engineering plans to illustrative artwork relating to proposed development schemes.

Alistair Patterson

Alistair joined DPDS in July 2015 as a researcher after obtaining a BA Degree in Ancient History and Classical Civilisations from Cardiff University after studying between 2011 and 2014.

Alistair is responsible for managing DPDS’s Development Plan monitoring database, planinfo liaising with all Local Authorities across the United Kingdom and informing clients with the very latest planning information and intelligence.

Alistair also provides vital research and plan monitoring support for the DPDS team.

Louise Thorne BA (Hons), BTP, MRTPI

Louise joined DPDS in January 2017 and brings with her over 16 years’ planning experience working in both the public and private sector in the UK and overseas. As a Chartered Town Planner working from our Derby office, Louise offers a wealth of experience in the fields of residential, commercial and infrastructure planning. She also has experience working for education, health care and emergency service providers and in the fields of minerals and waste.

Louise has extensive experience in delivering, project managing an implementing planning projects ranging from large scale residential developments, infrastructure schemes and mixed use developments through to smaller scale change of use and commercial planning applications. Louise has successfully managed a range of Environmental Impact Assessments, represented clients at appeal and designed and managed numerous public consultation events. Louise also offers significant experience undertaking site appraisals, promoting sites through the planning system and formulating development and delivery strategies.

Alexis Tysler BSc, MSC, MSC

With nearly ten years of experience, Alexis has a broad range of project involvement obtained from a variety of roles within the private sector and has also run her own independent planning consultancy.

Alexis holds a BSc in Geography, an MSc in Development Planning and an additional MSc in Architecture: Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies and is currently working towards Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Alexis has had broad involvement in residential, mixed-use, energy, waste, health care, education, leisure schemes and has a particular interest in renewable energy and environmentally sensitive forms of development. Project experience ranges from small-scale through to EIA work.

Andrea Walters

Andrea joined DPDS in July 2017 and provides secretarial and administrative support to the planning team in the Derby office. Marie joined DPDS in July 2017. She has a BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture: Design and Practice and is currently completing a MSc in Architectural Technology.

Marie has 11 years of Architectural Technology experience working for a medium sized developer located in Berkshire and has worked on a variety of new and grade II listed residential and mixed use schemes.

Mandy Wetherell

Mandy joined DPDS in 2004 and helps support the planning team on a day-to-day basis by providing a range of secretarial and administrative services including filing, supporting staff with planning application document and the monitoring of Council websites for particular applications.  She is responsible for the archiving activity and manages a library of planning documents.

Mandy also provides help with reception duties including meeting and greeting clients, dealing with post and deliveries.
