Senior / Principal Planner

DPDS Consulting is a multidisciplinary practice offering the full range of professional services and we are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Town Planner to join the team in our Swindon office.

Working in a friendly and supportive environment, you will be responsible for assisting with and delivering a wide variety of planning solutions including the preparation of planning applications, appeal submissions, Environmental Statements and development plan representations.  As said, DPDS is a multidisciplinary team and you will be working with chartered surveyors, architects, landscape architects, urban designers and environmental specialists as well as other chartered town planners.

You should have good all-round general planning knowledge as you will be expected to work in many areas including residential, strategic land, mixed-use schemes and renewable energy on behalf of a varied private and public sector client base.

Applicants must possess an accredited planning or surveying degree and be a full member of either the RTPI or RICS.  Experience gained in either the public or private sector is essential along with proven business development skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  The ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and work to tight deadlines is also required.

Graduate Planners

DPDS Consulting is a multidisciplinary practice offering the full range of professional services and we are looking to recruit “top class” planning graduates, ideally with up to one year’s post qualification experience or under graduate placement year in either the public or private sector, to work in our Swindon office.

Initially working with a Director, main duties will include:

  • Assisting with the drafting planning statements, design and access statements and submitting planning applications.
  • Preparing local plan representations and undertaking background research for clients.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and undertaking local consultations.

Successful candidates will meet a diverse range of people, including landowners, public and private sectors professionals, local politicians and residents and will work on projects throughout the UK so a willingness to travel and be in the possession of a current driving license and access to own car is highly desirable.

The ideal candidates will have a RTPI accredited degree and will be starting, or undertaking, their APC.  A good knowledge of the planning system and excellent communication, negotiating and report writing skills is expected as is a good level of computer literacy.   The successful candidates must be capable of working independently and as part of a team and will need to be flexible as there may be times that you will be required to work in other DPDS locations.

Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
