Part Time Secretary/Administrator

DPDS Consulting is an independent professional practice offering a comprehensive range of town planning, environmental, architectural and urban design services.

We are currently looking for a proactive and confident administrator to carry out administration, reception and secretarial duties and provide day to day support for our small team.

This is a part-time position working Monday – Friday 9:30am – 3:00pm with some limited flexibility.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide an all-round administration service, providing efficient, organised and flexible support, making sure that an excellent attention to detail and quality of work is maintained at all times;
  • Provide a reception-style service either in person or by telephone and to answer or direct appropriately all enquiries to the office, communicating clearly and efficiently with clients and suppliers as their first point of contact;
  • Maintenance of all filing systems in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Ensure archiving is carried out to the appropriate guidelines;
  • Maintenance of document Library;
  • Arrange meetings, meeting rooms and refreshments when required;
  • Ensure all office equipment is running satisfactorily, arranging for appropriate action to be taken if not;
  • Maintain stock of stationery and consumables, replenishing in a planned way according to Company procedures;
  • Liaise with other secretaries and administrators within the Company as appropriate, sharing best-practice initiatives wherever possible; and
  • To undertake any other duties that might be requested at any time.

You will:

  • Have a minimum of two years previous experience in an administration role;
  • Be organised, pro-active and capable of using your own initiative;
  • Have excellent attention to detail;
  • Be a good communicator with a positive and friendly manner;
  • Have an excellent telephone manner and a genuine interest in people;
  • Be capable of working to deadlines and under pressure;
  • Have good experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; and
  • A full driving licence and use of a car is highly desirable.

Architectural Technician

We are looking to recruit an experienced and talented Architectural/CAD Technician based in our Swindon office.

DPDS Consulting is a multidisciplinary practice offering the full range of Design and Planning Services. You will be working alongside Architects, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, Town Planners, Chartered Surveyors and Environmental specialists.

You will have excellent technical ability and time management skills. You will be working primarily for the Architectural team on the technical aspects of architecture but will also assist in the production of 2D and 3D images for planning documents. The work will be varied and rewarding.

You will be highly proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop and InDesign and have a working knowledge of BIM and Revit. You will be motivated, precise and passionate about how buildings are put together and will be given a high degree of responsibility at an early stage.

Principal Planner/Associate Director

A vacancy exists in our Swindon office for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Town Planner.

DPDS Consulting is a multidisciplinary practice offering the full range of professional services and you will be working with other chartered professional including surveyors, architects, landscape architects, urban designers and environmental specialists.

The successful candidate will provide advice on a range of planning topics to a variety of clients, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will have an in depth working knowledge of all local planning legislations, policies and procedures.

You must be self-motivated and keen to take on extra responsibility whilst taking an active part in business development.

To apply you will have a degree and/or masters and hold full membership with the RTPI. You will have at least five years’ post-qualification experience within either consultancy or local authority environments covering all aspects of planning along with experience in mentoring, supporting and developing other members of the team.

The appointment will be at a Principal/Associate level depending upon experience and carries an attractive remuneration package including pension, permanent health care and private medical options. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We envisage the successful candidate to be someone who has long-term ambitions has the commitment and drive to quickly progress into more senior positions, eventually playing an active role within the Senior Management Team. DPDS Consulting is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Urban Designer/Masterplanner to join its growing architectural team based in Swindon and to work on projects across the UK.

We are looking for an enthusiastic urban designer/masterplanner with a good feel and flair for landscape design as you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects within multiple sectors and with a broad spectrum of clients across the UK.
