DPDS was instructed by Williams F1 to instigate sketch proposals for a new Wind Tunnel facility linked to their existing aerodynamic development department building in April 2002.

At the same time, Williams F1 directly appointed specialist American contractors for both the design and procurement of the wind tunnel itself and for the rolling road, model support system and wheel motion system.  These contractors had very particular requirements for the integration of their works into the completed facility, which DPDS co-ordinated on behalf of the client.

The client required the new facility to be completed and handed over for use by February 2004.  This necessitated an extreme fast-track program with close co-operation between all contractors.

DPDS project managed a program that determined a negotiated building contract with a start on site in October 2002 enabling the American wind tunnel contractor to start site works by his target date of February 2003, the rolling road contractor to be on site in August 2003, with the completed building successfully handed over to the client on time.
